By dispelling myths and through insightful questions, this workshop will help you decide if business ownership is right for you.

About this event:

Prepare to roll up your sleeves and do the work to answer the question “Is now the right time for ME to start a business?” Maybe you are among those who have thought about starting their own business for awhile. Or maybe you have even taken the step to get your business license, but haven’t gotten much further. If you are ready to take an honest look at your readiness for business ownership, this workshop is for you.

For the first time, we will be working from (and all registered participants will receive) a 20 page workbook entitled “Is Owning a Business a Good Fit for You?” This professionally-produced workbook is part of the Money Smart Education series created by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC–the folks who insure bank deposits). For almost two decades, this course has proven to be an effective tool for assessing readiness for business startup.

About the Instructor:

The session will be facilitated by Asbury Lockett, Women’s Business Center Director for AnewAmerica Women’s Business Center in San Jose. His relaxed presentation style puts participants at ease. Asbury’s most recent experience is as a Business Advisor with the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC’s) both in California and Washington State. As a small business advisor for the past 8 years, he has counseled hundreds of businesses in all aspects of business startup, operation, and growth. His LinkedIn profile is here.
