July 1, Session 1: Startup Basics and Business Concepts

This introductory workshop focuses on the basics of testing a business idea and identifying the key factors that influence startup success. Startup Basics provides an overview of the skills and tools needed when deciding to start a business. In this session, clients learn about the advantages and disadvantages of owning a business, the most profitable form for their business, and the fundamentals of formation, organization, marketing, cash flow and funding sources.

Business Concept: The second portion of this workshop focuses on the business concept and step-by-step guidance in researching your idea, market, and competition. At the end of the Business Concept workshop segment, the client will be able to identify their target markets, describe their products and services, and collect key competitive information to support their feasibility plan.

During this hands-on workshop you will learn the essential steps of developing and evaluating your business idea, including:

  • What are your options for going into business
  • How to turn your business idea into a reality
  • How to conduct preliminary research
  • Use a one-page tool in the workshop to evaluate 8 aspects of your company, including customer, cost, pricing and marketing

Key Topics:

  • Common traits and characteristics of entrepreneurs.
  • Advantages and disadvantages of starting a business on your own, buying a franchise or
    buying an existing business.
  • Assessing the feasibility of your business idea or opportunity.
  • The value and purpose of a formal business plan.

Learning Outcomes:

  • You will be able to compare your personality traits, strengths and weaknesses
    with those common to successful entrepreneurs.
  • You will learn the advantages and disadvantages of starting a business on your
    own versus buying a franchise versus buying an existing business and why it is

El Programa: Únete a nuestro program de emprendimiento de 9 sesiones diseñado para ayudarte a lanzar y crecer tu pequeño negocio. Te enseñaremos como desarrollar estrategias empresariales básicas (visión, misión y valores), finanzas personales, análisis de mercado, propuesta de valor, operaciones, estrategia de marketing y finanzas del negocio.

Nosotros somos Centro Community Partners, una organización local sin ánimo de lucro que ofrece talleres interactivos y dinámicos para ayudar a nuevos emprendedores y a pequeños empresarios, especialmente a mujeres y otras comunidades vulnerables, a crear su plan de negocio y a prepararse para ser dueños de sus propios negocios. Nuestros talleres dinámicos, interacticos y divertidos te ayudan a desarrollar tu modelo de negocio e interactuar con otros emprendedores interesantes.

También puedes aprender a crear tu plan de negocio en tu teléfono simplemente utilizando el app Centro Business Planning App, disponible en Español e Inglés.

Fecha / Hora: Nos veremos semanalmente los Martes en la tarde de 5:00pm a 7:30pm, empezando el 25 de Junio de 2019 hasta el 20 de Agosto de 2019.
