Brief Overview:
The Public Works Department has the primary responsibility to plan, design and construct public facilities and infrastructure systems. Public Works achieves these goals, when needed, by contracting with private firms for specialized areas of work. In the project planning and design phases, Public Works will typically contract with architectural, engineering, and other design related consultants.
